Dia de Sant Jordi (or St. George Day) is also called “The Day of the Rose” (“El dia de la Rosa”) or “The day of the Book” (“El dia del Libre”) and is widely celebrated in Catalonia as Sant Jordi is Catalonia’s patron. Traditionally on this day lovers, friends and and colleagues exchange gifts – “A rose for love and a book forever”.
23rd of April is also the only day when Barcelona’s City Hall is opened to visitors.
This courtyard is one of my favorite places in Gotico. Unlike other tourist destinations it’s usually empty and quiet.
